Keywords & Quick Links
Looking deeper into the Biorock or as it’s also called “Seament” (thanks to Pia via twitter for the link) I’ve stumbled upon a few terms or keywords that have helped me focus: Biomimetics (also called Biomimicry or Bionics), Biogenic Structures, and something I’m interested in pursuing in terms of our self-sustaining autopoietic community, that is Aquaculture and/or Mariculture.
I’ve also stumbled across a bit more info on our Thrombolites’ cousins the Stromatolites: here (WA Department of Mines and Petroleum), and also some material about geological timescales that may be useful for the Diagramming Histories group here (cartage.org).
Also found some people doing some interesting things with solar cells, floating islands, and a video for your enjoyment called [Sex, Velcro & Biomimicry]
Additional thoughts on the above:
Nicolas suggested the idea of a Plasticity Dictionary (Plicktionary?)
